WWE Raw Review
As the road to Bad Blood heats up, WWE knocked it out of the park with this show. Read on and find out what happened.
The show started with an excellent CM Punk promo. While most of Punkβs promos have been the same with the same catchphrases, this promo was starkly different. We saw a different side of him; Punk is now at his breaking point, with him speaking in an almost monotone voice, sounding like he was going to kill Drew McIntyre. He sounded similar to Harley Race, providing a dark tone to the promo. This hooked the viewers in and they listened to every word. This promo was sorely needed for this Hell in a Cell match to set the tone for the animosity thatβs going to happen.
Pete Dunne and Sheamus had a fun match. Even though I donβt like Pete Dunne being treated like a joke with the βButchβ name, the match was good and it was a very important and needed win for Dunne. The finish was innovative, with the shillelagh being a distraction for the cricket bat. I find it incredible that a 46 year old Sheamus is having better matches than most of the roster!
Jey Uso proves the doubters wrong!
With the Yeet catchphrase being Jey Usoβs character, his promos have been one dimensional. This promo proved that when Jey Uso wants to be, he is in a league of his own in his promos, and this was shown against Bron Breakker. Uso got a pop when mentioning Breakkerβs short lived NFL career. I have to mention how Bron Breakker is excellent as champion, treating the championship like it is his life.
Seeds planted for New Day break upβ¦
The first title defense of the Judgement Day was a fine match. The New Day should have won the match but there was a stupid ref spot I didnβt like. I understand why they did it- to make sure the New Day didn't lose clean, and to give Xavier Woods an excuse after the match.Β
The after match backstage segment of the New Day was excellent. I love the fact that Xavier Woods portrays his insecurities of the New Day not being good enough without Big E. I loved this and Xavier Woods showed out this episode.
Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman mayhem!
This was the most jam packed 4 minutes of action Iβve ever seen: a fan was thrown, sets were destroyed, and the ring was destroyed. The match didnβt even start. It only ended when both men were knocked out backstage! This program has to end at a PLE, preferably in a last man standing match.Β
Iβve liked this Sami Zayn & Gunther program more than their Wrestlemania one. This has shown the first time that Gunther has shown a side of vulnerability, and provides a different feel for this rivalry. Ludwig Kaiser also had a bait and switch moment. I donβt know if this is foreshadowing a turn. Weβll have to wait and see.
Bianca Belair and Iyo Sky have a fantastic match!
These women have insane chemistry. Every match they have is excellent and they managed to have one of the best TV matches of the year. The match started with a flippy sequence which was cool and it was really clean. Both women showcased their strengths: Iyo Skyβs quickness and evasiveness, and Bianca Belairβs brute strength showcased with a suplex carry on the ring stairs. The finish was good as Iyo Sky got a win which boosts her momentum and hopefully means she and Kairi Sane get a title shot in the future.
The main event was fine. The highlight of the match was Wade Barrett being trapped by Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley. The best part of this segment was after the match. It was insanely chaotic with Bron Breakker even coming out.
The show ended with the Judgement Day standing tall which is needed going into Bad Blood. This capped off a good show.
Overall, I loved this show. It was chaotic and also had good matches and excellent storytelling throughout it. I hope every Raw is like this on the road to Bad Blood.
Show Rating: 8.9
Bianca and Iyo put on match of the night easily! Their chemistry has always been great and reminded us why they are 2 of the best on the roster, male of female. Great review!
